Stalin to inaugurate ELCOT IT park in Coimbatore soon
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will inaugurate the ELCOT Information Technology (IT) park in Coimbatore in two weeks, Minister for Information Technology Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said on Thursday.
The Minister, who inspected the park at Vilankurichi, told the media that the six-storey building, spread over 3 lakh sq. ft, had 2 lakh sq. ft of office space.
The demand was about 6 lakh sq. ft. After inauguration, the space would be allocated to start-ups and large and small companies, and about 15,000 sq. ft would be reserved for a co-working space. The park would help generate 3,250 jobs, he said.
“I have given guidelines to the Secretary of the department and the ELCOT MD for space allocation. There should be four or five companies, apart from the co-working space,” he added.
High demand
The demand for such office space was high in Coimbatore. The State had announced hi-tech cities in Coimbatore, Hosur, and Chennai. They would have schools, hospitals, residential units, and office spaces. The work on these projects was under way, Mr. Thiaga Rajan said.
